A Family Affair: Part III of V

Friday May 20th started out to be an overcast day as we crossed the Bay Bridge. Rehearsal dinner arrangements had been made with the Town Dock Restaurant in St Michael’s overlooking the Bay. This was our first stop so that we could drop off the Grooms Cake.  Brandon has been a huge Simpsons fan since he was a boy. So Debi from “Debi’s Cake Studio” designed a cake with Homer Simpson sitting in his chair drinking Duff Beer.

When we arrived at the venue, Brandon was playing shuffle board and Samantha was with two of her girlfriends in a canoe. Our youngest son was pretty excited about the canoes. So off he went to find his other brother for some fishing. Meanwhile, Peyton and I got busy unloading the special items we had ordered for the wedding.

Around 6 o’clock we all gathered for the rehearsal overlooking the water. By now the sun was peeking through and we were able to see some blue sky. As with most rehearsals there was a lot of goofing around until the Marine within Brandon came out and issued a command to stop. Soon as Samantha was comfortable with the ceremony flow everyone took off for cocktails and dinner.

Town Dock had a great space set aside for us with a wonderful buffet of Brandon and Samantha’s favorite dishes. After dinner, toasts were made along with “roasts” of first impressions. Instead of hanging out in downtown St. Michaels, surprisingly everyone returned to The Oaks after dinner. Friends picked up some beer and spent the next few hours chatting on the waterfront under a star filled sky.
